CINCINNATI (AP) — Joe Burrow, the star quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, has been listed as questionable for their highly anticipated Monday night game against the Los Angeles Rams. Burrow’s availability is in doubt due to a calf injury that he sustained during training camp and exacerbated in the team’s recent loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite his injury, Burrow made a limited return to practice on Thursday, indicating that he is making progress in his recovery. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be able to take the field on Monday night.
If Burrow is unable to play, the Bengals will turn to backup quarterback Jake Browning, who was on the practice squad last season. Browning’s limited experience in the NFL includes throwing his first and only regular-season pass in the team’s opening week loss to the Cleveland Browns.
On the opposing side, the Los Angeles Rams have their own injury concern with Puka Nacua. Nacua, who set a rookie record with 15 receptions in last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, is listed as questionable due to an oblique injury. However, Rams coach Sean McVay has expressed optimism that Nacua will be able to play.
In addition to Burrow and Nacua, the Bengals’ tight end Irv Smith Jr. is also dealing with an injury. Smith is listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury, further complicating the team’s offensive options.
The upcoming game between the Bengals and the Rams is highly anticipated as it marks their first meeting since the Rams’ victory in the Super Bowl after the 2021 season. Both teams will be looking to secure a win and showcase their strengths on the national stage.
