High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Dramatic Shootout

NYPD Chief of Patrol, John Chell, described the chaotic scene: “At this time, members of the 3-0 Precinct engaged this person in an exchange of gunfire. After this exchange, the individual fled into the marsh area next to the Major Deegan Expressway, leading to a second round of gunfire.”

In the end, the suspect sustained gunshot wounds to the head and leg. Currently in critical condition at a local hospital, the 39-year-old offender has a history with law enforcement.

While the incident serves as a reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face daily, it also highlights their unwavering commitment to protecting the public. The successful resolution of this high-speed pursuit is a testament to the bravery and skill of the NYPD.
