Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal Step Up as Ruturaj Gaikwad Misses IND vs SA 2nd T20I

However, one notable change in the Indian playing XI is the absence of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is down with illness.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced via X (formerly Twitter) that Gaikwad’s unavailability is due to illness. This opens up an opportunity for the talented duo of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal to showcase their skills as openers. While Gill returns to the team after a break, Jaiswal gets a chance to make a mark in the international arena.
Another change in the lineup sees Shreyas Iyer being omitted, making way for Tilak Varma, who has been waiting for his chance after sitting out the previous two games against Australia. The seriousness and duration of Gaikwad’s illness are still unknown, leaving fans and selectors concerned about his recovery.
In addition to the batting changes, India has made an alteration in the bowling department as well. Kuldeep Yadav replaces Ravi Bishnoi, who had an impressive performance and was awarded the player of the series against Australia.
